Severe Weather Procedures
In the event of severe weather conditions, or indeed any other emergency, we may need to close the academy. This is a decision that can often only be made early in the morning.
In making this decision there is a need to balance the health and safety risks of students making hazardous journeys and number of staff that can actually get to work, against the loss of a school day.
When a decision is made, we will post a message on the first page of the academy website (www.glpa.org.uk) to notify you either of a closure or that we are open. You can also listen to the following radio stations: Radio Leeds 92.4 FM/95.3 FM (http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/leeds/hi/tv_and_radio/) or Radio Aire 96.3 FM (http://www.radioaire.co.uk/) . On most occasions, a text message will also be sent out to all parents by Groupcall.
The above are the quickest ways to find out if the academy will be closed. Please do not ring the academy office unless to report an absence.
