Arriving at School

Children should not arrive at school before 8.45 am when staff duties begin. Any child arriving in school prior to this time does so at their parents risk.

Car parking space at school is very limited and through necessity part of the car park is restricted to use by the staff of the school and official visitors. Parking is available in the bays near the double gates up to the Reserved Bay. We do ask that parents do not use the car park to drop off nursery or school children, as the children do use the special painted footpath during these times. This allows them to cross the car park safely.

" Above all, they enjoy school greatly and are very complimentary about school life; these positive attitudes are reflected in their high levels of attendance."

OFSTED 2009.

Attendance
It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that your child attends school regularly. Should your child become ill, and be unable to attend, please telephone the school as soon as possible. There is an answering service on which you can leave a message at any time of the day or night.  We will also require a note explaining his/her absence on their return. Please avoid unnecessary absences as the continuity of your child's education will suffer.

Parents may request to take their child out of school for up to 10 days in any school year (which runs from September to August). Permission will only be granted for specific reasons such as a family holiday that cannot be taken during school holidays due to works' closure, being tied to shift patterns or other extenuating circumstances. A meeting must be requested with the Headteacher to discuss your request.  Absence during term-time is not an entitlement and the prior permission of the Headteacher must be gained before these days are taken.

At the year end all absences will be totalled against the number of possible attendances. This gives an accurate picture of how many days education a pupil has lost.

If you wish your child to leave school during the day for medical or dental appointments please send a note in advance and arrange to meet your child from the main school reception area, where they will need to be "signed out" and "signed back in" if they return to school later that day.
