 School Clubs : School Council

Over the next term our School Council will be looking at ways to help our school achieve the Eco Schools status.  As a result, we will be visiting the Stockbridge Technology Centre near Selby which is a commercially run horticultural Research and Development company who also run a fully operational arable farm.  They have an educational centre which offers school children the chance to reconnect with where their food comes from.

During our first visit we planted seeds and transplanted seedlings both inside and outside.  We then came back to school and, as part of a longer term project, we started growing own fruit and vegetables.  We have already planted some onions and lettuces; next we will be planting some potatoes but watch this space for more!  We are hoping our school kitchen will use some of the produce we grow.
