Green Lane Primary School

  Year 3/4 Mrs Turford's Class

On Tuesday 3rd March, Year 3 stepped back in time over 2000 years as they became trainees in the Roman Army. They visited the Brigantum Roman fort at Murton Park, York for a day's hard labour to learn what faced soldiers who wanted to join up.

The Year 3's from class 3/4 joined Ms Davies' Year 3 class to make a day of it. They had a tour of the fort, including the toilet! They also made a clay oil lamp, took part in weapons training, wrote an application form in cursive Roman script as well as guarding the fort - especially those pesky teachers who kept trying to sneak through!

Very soon, parents will be invited to school to see the DVD of the day with an opportunity to purchase a copy if they so wish!

Thanks to all the staff & parents who helped out - we just missed the showers too!

This half term we are learning about Solids & Liquids in Science.

We have been investigating what happens when you add a solid to a liquid. We observed closely to see if it reacted, dissolves or nothing happened.

We worked well as a team and shared out the jobs of resources officer, health & safety officer, communications officer and administration officer amongst our tables so that everyone had a role to play in the investigation.
